DearlyStory press kit

DearlyStory turns a child’s idea into a bedtime story, paints it as a picture book, and reads it aloud in a parent’s own voice. You record about 15 seconds once. After that, even on nights you can’t be there, the story still sounds like you. It is made by one independent developer, Zhang Liu.

If you need a line about it

One line: Record 15 seconds of your voice once, and every bedtime story after that is read by you, even when you are not home.

A paragraph: Bedtime doesn’t always fit real life: night shifts, work trips, deployments, two homes, or just the hundredth reading of the same book. DearlyStory starts with about 15 seconds of a parent’s voice. Then any idea becomes a story in seconds. Change it if you like, paint it as a picture book in one of four styles, and press play: your voice reads, the sentence lights up, the pages turn on their own. Since version 1.2, a favourite story can become a series, with the same characters drawn the same way each night.

Worth writing about

  • Bedtime when a parent is away: deployments, night shifts, work trips, two-home families.
  • Voice cloning with consent built in, and what a family app should never allow.
  • Grandparents far away, and the voices families want to keep.
  • Building an AI picture-book app alone.
